Purple Squad wins Lions Club All-Star Game

INA - Zach Labuwi led a quartet of double-figure scorers in the Purple Team's 87-71 win Saturday night at th 31st Annual Lions Club All-Star Game held at Rend Lake College.
Labuwi from Benton scored 14-points and was named the game's Most Valuable Player as he joined Carrier Mills' Luke Morgan (13), Eldorado's Isaiah Cunningham (12) and Benton's Tim Corn (11) in double-digits in the 16-point win.
Harrisburg's Sterling Price led all scorers with 17-points but no other Gold Team player scored more than eight.
The Purple Team broke away from the Gold Team after leading by just six points (36-30) at the half.
Zach Wreath of Nashville and West Frankfort's Patrick O'Keefe added eight points apiece for the Gold Team.
Dustin Winter scored eight points for the Purple Team and the senior from Pinckneyville hit 10 3-pointers to win the annual Three-Point Contest.
Mound Meridian's Randle Hite (6-points) beat the field to win the annual Slam-Dunk Contest.
The Purple Team was led by head coach Shane Hawkins of Trico and he was assisted by Meridian's Jeff Mandrell.
Waltonville's Mike Denault was the head coach of the Gold Team while being assisted by NCOE's Doug Miller.
