AT MURPHYSBORO
CHESTER 69, TRICO 48
The Yellow Jackets won their first boy's basketball regional title on Friday night since the 1974-75 season behind 25-points from Kyle Landon and by hitting all 13 of their field goal attempts in a third quarter blitz.

Coach Brad Norman's club turned a 23-22 halftime deficit into a shocking 50-36 lead at the end of three quarters.

Jake Lochhead added 18-points for Chester while the Yellow Jackets (21-8) got eight points each from Link Cushman, Cleb Arbeiter and Chris Schwartz in the win.

London and Lochhead combined for 22 of the 28-points in that pivotal third quarter push.

Trico saw its season close at 18-12 having lost two consecutive 2A regional title games since being bumped up from 1A.

Coach Mike Denault's team was led by George Kuhlman with 17-points while Blaine LePere added 13-points.

Chester will face top-ranked Harrisburg on Wednesday night at the 2A West Frankfort Sectional.

AT HAMILTON COUNTY
MOUNT CARMEL 51, FLORA 49

The Golden Aces picked up their first boy's basketball regional crown since 2008 with a win over the Wolves.

Reese Metcalf, a 6-foot-3 junior, scored 21-points for Mount Carmel (14-14) while junior Thomas Allen added nine.

C.J. Diel scored 11-points for Coach Tyler Buss and his Aces.

Levi Laws, a sophomore guard, added eight points and his steal on an inbounds play with :05 left sealed the victory for Mount Carmel.

The Golden Aces will now face Nashville on Tuesday night at the West Frankfort Sectional.

Ethan Leib paced the Wolves (21-7) with 17-points while Christian Taylor netted 13.

Mount Carmel rallied by outscoring Flora 18-10 in the fourth quarter.

CLASS 2A
AT HILLSBORO
TEUTOPOLIS 85, VANDALIA 45

The Wooden Shoes quest for that elusive Peoria trip took another step forward as Coach Andy Fehrenbacher's club shutdown the Vandals in the rout.

Four of the Wooden Shoes hit for double-figures with Derek Smith and Jared Waldhoff hitting for 18-points apiece.

Brett Mette added 15-points for the 26-3 club while Devin Falby came off the bench for 12.

Kyle Prumer pitched in nine points as Teutopolis jumped out to a 24-12 first quarter lead and never looked back in ending Vandalia's season.

The Vandals (15-13) were led in scoring by Aaron Harter with 14-points as he was the only Vandal in double-digits.

Chase Woolsey added nine points while Michael Wells scored eight. Leyton Godoyo finished with seven points as Vandalia trailed 40-19 at intermission.

Teutopolis will face Roxana on Tuesday night at the Greenville 2A Sectional.

AT STAUNTON
ROXANA 45, STAUNTON 31

The Shells, behind 17-points from Hunter Reine and 11-points from Nathan McCauley advanced to the Greenville Sectional after beat Staunton on the Bulldogs' home floor to win their first regional title in boy's basketball since 2000.

Reine, a 6-foot-9 senior and four-year starter, scored 11 of his 17 in the second quarter as the Shells broke a 2-2 first quarter tie and led 18-6 at the half.

The Bulldogs (23-8) got a team-high nine points from senior guard Billy Bartle, rallied to within five at 25-20 in the third quarter before Roxana (24-7) pulled away.

Roxana could have iced the game earlier but hit just 11-of-21 free throws.

CLASS 2A
AT BREESE CENTRAL
BREESE CENTRAL 54, CARLYLE 39

The Cougars, after losing to Carlyle twice during the regular season, ended the Indians regional title hopes with a win on Friday night at home behind 15-points from Kyler Scheer and 11-points from Austin Rickhoff as Coach Stan Eagleson's club won yet another regional title.

The Cougars have now won four-in-a-row and 10 regional titles for Coach Eagleson, who passed 600-career wins this past season.

Central (21-9) broke away with a big second half, breaking a 25-all halftime tie with a 27-14 advantage in the second half.

Coach Andy Palmer's Indians finished their fine campaign at 23-8.

AT NEWTON
ROBINSON 68, NEWTON 46

The Maroons rolled to a regional title, their first since winning the state championship in 2011, behind 30-points from high-scoring senior guard Aaron Siler.

Siler, a 5-foot-11 senior, nailed five 3-pointers in the first quarter as Robinson (25-4) advanced to the Greenville 2A Sectional.

Six-foot-four senior Derrick Nicholas was an inside force, netting 18-points for Coach Mack Thompson's squad that led 40-22 at intermission.

Coach Doug Mammoser saw his Eagles end their season at 24-6 with Dylan Davidson scoring 18-points while Luke Stone added 11.

The Maroons hit 52 percent of their field goals (25-of-48) and were 7-of-16 from behind the arc with Siler hitting six of those trifectas.

Robinson will face Breese Central on Wednesday night at Greenville.

CLASS 1A
AT WOODLAWN
WOODLAWN 69, CHRIST OUR ROCK LUTHERAN 25

The defending state champions had little problem with the Silver Stallions, who were playing in their first ever regional championship game in its brief history.

Coach Shane Witzel's 26-3 club jumped out on CORL 26-13 at halftime and outgunned them 45-12 in the second half.

Gabe Owens, a 6-foot-5 senior vet, notched a game-best 24-points while teammate Kris Harlow added 14.

Eleven different Woodlawn players got in the scoring act as they advanced to the Altamont Sectional with their sixth consecutive regional title.

No other school in the State of Illinois, since the beginning in four-class basketball, has accomplished this feat.

CORL (20-9) was led by Tyler Burmester with nine points.

Woodlawn will play the winner of the Dieterich Regional final between Oblong and the host Maroons to be played at 7:30 pm Saturday.

AT ST. ELMO
NOKOMIS 51, ALTAMONT 43

The Indians coughed up a big lead and fell in the championship game to the Redskins as Coach John Niebrugge's club was outscored 25-9 in the fourth quarter.

Altamont led 33-26 heading into the final quarter before the wheels fell off.

Nokomis (21-9) was led by Devon Wright with 15-points while Tyler Herpstreith added 14.

Evan Huber tossed in 11 for Coach Steve Kimbro, who earlier this year picked up his 600th win.

Altamont (21-8) was led by guard Garrett Ziegler with 17-points while Jon Kuhns added nine.

AT EDWARDS COUNTY
NORTH CLAY 62, CISNE 59

The Lions were denied their first every regional title as North Clay put together the upset performance as Logan Hildebrand scored 21-points as the Cardinals outlasted their Midland Trail Conference rivals on Friday night.

Coach Brian Wattles' Cards hit 8-of-11 fourth quarter free throws as they ended the Lions' dream season at 23-7.

Dylan Walker added 14-points for North Clay (14-11) as the Cardinals move on to the Altamont Sectional.

Cisne was paced by senior guard Dustin Atteberry while brother Austin Atteberry added 14.

North Clay will play Nokomis on Wednesday night at the 1A Altamont Sectional.

AT GALLATIN COUNTY
GALLATIN COUNTY 66, NORRIS CITY-OMAHA-ENFIELD 42

The Hawks won their third regional title in succession with the win over the Fighting Cardinals behind 34-points from 7-foot senior Andrew Drone.

Gallatin County (25-3) got eight points from Patrick Lowe and seven points from Josh Belford in the win as they advance to the Hardin County Sectional for a game Wednesday night against the winner of the Waltonville Regional contest on Saturday night between Christopher and Steeleville.

NCOE (17-11) got 15-points from Cole Tucker and 12-points from Dylan Martin.

AT VALMEYER
WATERLOO GIBAULT CATHOLIC 62, OKAWVILLE 52

The Hawks nabbed their first regional title since 2001 with the win behind Nick Row scoring 18-points and Sam Toal adding 17 as Gibault used a big 8-0 run to close the first half and pulled away in the fourth quarter for the win, ending the Rockets regional quest and denying Okawville a shot at playing at home in the sectional.

The Hawks are now 24-6 while Okawville ended its season at 25-8.

Jeremy Weeke scored 26-points for the Rockets in the loss.

Gibault will face New Berlin on Tuesday night after the Pretzels topped Springfield Lutheran to win the Franklin Regional.
