ELDORADO CLASS 1A SECTIONAL
MOUNDS MERIDIAN CLASS 1A REGIONAL

MERIDIAN 112, DONGOLA 51
The host Bobcats steamrolled the Demons in the opener at the Mounds Meridian Class 1A Regional.

The state ranked ‘Cats put six players in double-figures as the raced out to a 54-20 halftime lead.

Darian Engram led the scoring onslaught with 20-points for Coach Jeff Mandrell’s club that improved to 26-1 on the season.

Brent Kennedy and Devaunte McClung added 16-points apiece for Meridian as they advanced to the second round.

Cameron Ballard (12) Edreco Amos (11) and Timmy Hackney (10) were the other Bobcats in double-figures in the rout.

Mounds Meridian hit a whopping 50 field goals in the win – 45 of which were two-point tries.

Dongola saw its season end at 2-26 with the loss with Tyler Eddleman scoring 21-points while teammate Chris Cohin added 16.
CAIRO 87, EGYPTIAN 70
Behind Lee Wright - who scored 26-points - and 17-points from Devin Mayfield – the Pilots improved its record to 13-13 on the year with the upset win over fourth seeded Egyptian in the second game on Monday night.

Arthur Williams added 16 points to the scoring for Cairo – who advanced to play top-seeded Meridian on Wednesday night.

Egyptian saw its season end at 13-11 despite Jhermarien Terry who netted 16-points in the loss.

Terry hit three 3-pointers in the second quarter as the Pharaohs led 44-43 at intermission.

However the Pilots outscored Egyptian 27-14 in the third quarter to take control.

Darmez Nelson added 11-points for Coach Matt Mandrell’s club while Marcus Marable added 10.

Matt Petermichel closed out his career with nine points.

Rodney Woodson scored 10-points for Cairo – including a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter.

Cairo won despite shooting just 18-of-36 from the foul line.

CRAB ORCHARD CLASS 1A REGIONAL
ZEIGLER-ROYALTON 64, GALATIA 48
The fourth seeded Tornadoes blew past the Bearcats in the Crab Orchard opener and will now take on top seed Waltonville on Wednesday night.

Z-R got a nice offensive night from 6-foot senior guard Jimmy Stevens in advancing to the second round.

Stevens scored 19-points to lead all scorers and his four 3-pointers in the third quarter sparked the Tornadoes to the opening round triumph.

Tyler Mitchell scored 14-points for Coach Jaime Moyer’s club while Jake Wawczak added 12.

Galatia saw its season end at 11-14 in spite of 13-points from Kobe Watson and 11-points each from Joey Cullum and Dalton Reed.

Z-R pulled away in the third quarter – outscoring the Bearcats 23-8 to lead 44-32 heading into the final quarter.

TRICO CLASS 1A REGIONAL
STEELEVILLE 62, MARISSA-COULTERVILLE 50
The Warriors continued their late season run of success with a win in the opener of the Trico Regional behind 26-points from Andrew Pokrzywinski and 19-points from Nick Potter.

The Warriors (14-13) get a rematch with Trico – the tournaments’ top seed – on Wednesday following the win.

Steeleville hit 18-of-25 free throws in the contest – including Pokrzywinski hitting all 13 of his FT’s in the game – nine in the fourth quarter as the Warriors held off the Meteors.

Marissa-Coulterville was led by 12-points from Michael Lloyd and 11-points from Dave Parkinson in the loss – which ended the season at 10-14.

RED HILL CLASS 1A SECTIONAL
FARINA SOUTH CENTRAL CLASS 1A REGIONAL
WOODLAWN 78, WEBBER TOWNSHIP 33
The top-seeded Cardinals and defending Supersectional champs started the defense of their title with a easy win over fellow Midland Trail Conference rival Webber in the opening game.

Senior guard Casey Hammond topped the Woodlawn (22-5) scoring spree with 17-points while senior teammate Kirk Dunbar added 14.

Dawson Verhines chipped in 10-points while Josh Wiggs added nine in the win.

Webber Township (4-23) saw its season end with senior Kyle Langa leading the Trojans with 10-points.

PATOKA 66, CENTRALIA CHRIST OUR ROCK LUTHERAN 63 (OT)
The Warriors won their 11th game in a row but it took overtime to get past the Silver Stallions in a battle of Egyptian Illini Conference foes.

Coach Joe Eddy’s crew (21-7) survived a 29-point uprising from CORL’s Shane Campbell in advancing to take on Woodlawn for the second straight season in the regional semifinals.

Luke Murfin scored 20-points for Patoka – leading five players in double-figures.

Sawyer Potter finished with 12-points while Cody Allen and Drew Baldridge added 11-points each. Zach Thompson added 10 in the win.

CORL (11-10) also got 10-points from Brandon Ramsour in defeat.

ALTAMONT CLASS 1A REGIONAL
BROWNSTOWN 60, MULBERRY GROVE 40
The Bombers opened play at the Altamont Regional with a win for Coach Terry Pruemer as Michael Kramer led a quartet of double-figure scorers in the 20-point win.

Kramer – a 6-foot senior guard – netted 16-points. Kramer canned four first half 3-pointers as the Bombers struggled to shake loose from the Aces and led just 33-31 at intermission.

Brownstown (16-11) put together a second half run to take command – outscoring MG 27-9 in the final 16 minutes to advance.

Conor Riley added 14-points to the Bombers’ attack with 10 coming in the first half while Bryce Mason chipped in 10 in the win.

Brownstown won in spite of a woeful 6-of-17 foul line performance.

Mulberry Grove closed its 2009-10 season at 5-20.

Allen Tompkin’s paced the Aces with 14-points – with ten coming in the first half as the Aces stayed close.

Quintin Lindahl added 11 in the loss.

ST. ELMO 53, RAMSEY 38
The Eagles advanced to take on Brownstown on Wednesday with a win Monday night over the Rams.

Coach Greg Feezel’s club used balanced scoring with ten different players inking the book in the victory over Ramsey.

Senior guard Zeke Asher and freshman guard Connor Beasley scored 11-points each to share scoring honors.

Asher canned a trio of 3-pointers in the win – with two of them coming in the fourth quarter as the Eagles pulled away.

Chris Logue – a 5-foot-7 senior – added eight points for St. Elmo.

Ramsey (6-19) closed its campaign with Austa Keppler scoring 16-points while Andy Carter added nine.

HUTSONVILLE-PALESTINE CLASS 1A REGIONAL
CUMBERLAND 66, MARTINSVILLE 45
The Pirates – the top-seed at the H-P Regional – improved to 21-6 on the season with the win in the opener behind 17-points from 5-foot-10 senior guard Reed Draper.

Jaton McMeechan added 15-points for the Pirates who advanced to the second round.

Cumberland trailed 27-21 at the half but exploded for 45-second half points to take over.

Led by Draper with three 3-pointers – the Pirates hit seven shots from behind the arc as they outscored Martinsville 22-6 in the third quarter.

The Blue Streaks saw their season end at 8-21 with Bryce Doran scoring 14-points.

Kyle Perisho added eight points for Martinsville while Jared Higginbotham finished his career at Martinsville with five points but a game-best 15-rebounds.

Higginbotham ended his prep career with 1,269 points and 702 rebounds.

STEWARDSON-STRASBURG 48, HUTSONVILLE-PALESTINE 45
The Comets advanced to take on the top-seed Pirates with a four-point win over the host Tigers.

Stew-Stras (14-11) advanced with Will Rincker scoring 14-points while teammate Steven Thomas added 13.

Chris Koontz added 10 for the Comets.

H-P closed its campaign at 14-13 in spite of 13-points from 6-foot sophomore Jerry Wilson.

Seniors Blake Callaway and Jevon Pearce scored 10-points each in the loss.

HERRIN CLASS 2A SECTIONAL
DU QUOIN CLASS 2A REGIONAL
WEST FRANKFORT 47, JOHNSTON CITY 34
Head coach Kevin Toney’s Red Birds picked up just their second win of the season in eliminating Johnston City at the Du Quoin Regional.

West Frankfort received 12-points from Kendrick Simelton in the win while Nathan Butler added 10.

Dylan Vaughn and Taylor Cash scored 10-points each for WF.

Johnston City bowed out of the tournament at 6-22 with Daniel Davidson leading the way with 16-points.

CARTEVILLE CLASS 2A REGIONAL
CARTERVILLE 56, VIENNA 37
The host Lions kept their season going with a win over the Eagles in the regional opening game behind 15-points from Drew Bonner and 12-points from Ryan Bonifield.

Zach Watson added nine points in the Lions win for Coach Scott Burzynski.

Vienna closed its season at 3-23 behind 6-foot-1 senior Drake Sanders with 16-points.

HARRISBURG CLASS 2A REGIONAL
FAIRFIELD 63, MOUNT CARMEL 57
The Mules advanced to take on top-seeded Harrisburg with a win Monday over the Golden Aces.

Coach Scott McElravy’s club got 15-points from Andrew Atteberry and 12-points from Hunter Bryan in the win.

The Mules closed the deal by hitting 10-of-15 free throws in the fourth quarter for the win to improve to 7-21 on the year.

Mount Carmel closed its season at 5-22 with 19-points from Shawn Bumpus and 13-points from Beau Grant.

NASHVILLE CLASS 2A SECTIONAL
BREESE CENTRAL CLASS 2A REGIONAL

CARLYLE 53, FREEBURG 35
For the third time this season – the Indians beat the Midgets this time to advance into the regional semifinals.

Coach Andy Palmer’s club was led by Charles Cannon with 15-points while 11-points came from Scott Huels.

Freeburg saw its season end at 2-26 behind 13-points from Dustin Kimball.

VANDALIA CLASS 2A REGIONAL
HILLSBORO 43, LITCHFIELD 41
The Hiltoppers won its opener with a two-point win over South Central Conference rival Litchfield with Derek Davidson scoring 14-points and Colby cooper adding 13.

The victory improved Hillsboro to 9-17 on the season.

Litchfield (10-20) - behind 17-points from Dylan Treece who hit three 3-pointers after warming up with an advancement in the annual state three-point competition before the game – fell just two-points short despite holding the Hiltoppers to just four fourth quarter points.

The Purple Panthers also got eight points from Craig Johns in defeat.

EAST ALTON-WOOD RIVER CLASS 2A REGIONAL
GIBAULT CATHOLIC 46, ROXANA 43
The Hawks survived to advance to the semifinals with a win over the Shells with Kyle Prader scoring 18-points in the win.

Justin Rueter added 15 for Gibault Catholic (11-16) in the win.

Roxana (14-15) was led by 19-points from 6-foot-7 freshman Hunter Reine and 13-points from 5-foot-10 senior Ethan Guss.
