The Panthers advanced to the sectional title game with the win behind 21-points from 6-foot-3 junior guard Anthony Johnson as Oblong improved to 20-9 on the season while ending the Hornets' year at 17-13.

Coach Brent Harper's club led just 23-21 at the half but pulled away to get a Friday date with the winner of the Woodlawn/St. Elmo semifinal game set for Wednesday night.

Collin Meese added 12-points for the Panthers while Sean Morecraft chipped in nine in the win.

Cowden-Herrick was led by Brady Barnes with 15-points and Luke Moore finished with 11.

Coach Brett Boehm's club hit just 2-of-10 free throws in the contest.

The Panthers used yet another strong defensive effort in its 26th win of the season as they took care of the Tigers on Tuesday night.

Pinckneyville (26-4) held Olney scoreless in the second quarter, building a 15-7 lead at intermission.

Coach Bob Waggoner's squad then nailed down the victory by hitting 10-of-11 fourth quarter free throws to advance to Friday night's sectional final.

Six-foot senior Justin Bumann drilled home a trio of trifectas and finished with 11-points in the low scoring contest. Hunter Queen and Chris Priebe added nine and eight points in the win. Senior guard Bryant Shute hit 6-of-6 free throws, all in the fourth quarter, for Pinckneyville.

Olney saw its season come to a close despite 11-points from senior Michael Fehrenbacher.

The Panthers and head coach Gary Bowker advanced to the sectional final with a win over the Saukees behind the hot hand of Mitchell Beyers, who torched Pittsfield with 31-points for the 26-4 club.

The 6-foot-4 Beyers hit five 3-pointers and was 8-of-10 from the foul line in the win.

Jared McMillen added 17-points while Avery Hrabak tossed home 11-points for Pana as they will await the Breese Central/Marquette Catholic winner this Friday in the sectional title game.

Pittsfield (20-10) closed its season with Dalton Hoover and Wayde Smith scoring 14-points each.
